FREEDOM for the Three….for now.
September 16, 2006

Duane “Dog” Chapman, star of the television reality show “Dog the Bounty Hunter,” was released on bail this evening pending extradition proceedings sending him to Mexico to face illegal detention charges.
He left the federal courthouse at about 6:20 p.m.
U. S. Magistrate Judge Barry Kurren ruled that Chapman could be released on $300,000 bail. Kurren ordered him to remain at home unless he has to leave his house for his business.
Chapman’s son Leland and Tim Chapman (no relation), can be freed on $100,000 bail each, Kurren said.
Chapman and the other two were arrested by by U. S. Marshals yesterday morning on a federal extradition warrant signed by a federal judge. They were being held at the Federal Detention Center near Honolulu International Airport.
The three had a hearing yesterday before Kurren, who set another hearing for this afternoon on whether to release the three on bail.
The three are wanted back in Mexico in connection with their 2003 capture Andrew Luster, a Max Factor heir and convicted rapist. Dog Chapman tracked Luster down in Puerto Vallarta. The Chapmans and their camera crew were later arrested on kidnapping charges.
They were released by Mexican authorities on bail, but did not show up at a hearing in the case in Mexico on July 15, 2003.

We started a Petition to free Dog the moment he was captured. We are keeping his Publicist updated. In over 30 hours, we have over 7000 people including a Congress woman asking for charges to be dropped
Please drop the charges against Duane, Leland, and Tim Chapman
Please drop charges against Duane, Leland, and Tim Chapman
This is absolutely ridiculous that our government allowed this to happen, especially since Luster was a wanted fugitive. Dog and his crew are trying to make the world a better place and this is the thanks they get. Our government needs to take a serious look at the way they do things. What an embarrasment to our country that our government is this idiotic!
Well our government should not be bowing down to the requests of Mexico! But since they must, they better remember that it is our given right to protest and complain about this nonsence. I am a voting American and have already wrote those running for Congress in my state of Missouri, and let them know that unless they help support Dog’s rights as an American that I will not vote for them. I am sure they are not scared not to get my one little vote, but since my friends are doing the same, I hope they relize what needs to be done!!! The government also needs to ask its self, Would Mexico extradite a Mexican to the US for us? No they would not especially on a mistamenor charge! Oh and shouldn’t Mexico be worrying about the drug runners and murderers they have in their country? Also I am sure there are other people the US could be worrying about catching right now, like say terrorists? Oh I am sure that is enough from me but lets all help to keep Dog, Leland, and Tim Chapman FREE!!!!
This certainly is an embarrassment to our spineless government. These men should be rewarded, not extradited. Mexico would never have captured and extradited Luster for us! I am really horrified at how lightly our government and our justice system takes the mistreatment of my fellow citizens.
Check out duanechapman.blogspot.com which discusses the evidence that shows that Dog’s arrest is likely part of a prisoner exchange agreement between Mexico and the United States — but not for who you think!!
I found legal angel’s web site, duanechapman.blogspot.com, very interesting, and it makes a person think. I had no idea that this could be so complex. I am a huge fan of the show and the stars, and I was outraged when I heard about the arrests. What they did was very vital and I, as a female, am grateful that they took a predtor like Luster off the streets. THANK YOU, CHAPMANS. I have done, and will continue to do, everything in my power to help stop the extradition.
